Commander Shadowsun

หลังจากทำ Fire Warrior และ Pathfinder เสร็จ ก็ตัดสินใจทำ Shadowsun ต่อทันที เพื่อเอามาเป็น HQ ของทัพ ก็พอดี Shadowsun เพิ่งออกมาได้ไม่นานด้วย ยังใหม่ๆ ซิงๆ แต่ทำมาแล้วจะได้เอามาลงเป็นตัวจริงในทัพไหมนั่นก็อีกเรื่องนึง

ถ้าเทียบกับโมเดล Shadowsun เก่า จริงๆ ทรงโมเดลเก่ามันก็มีเสน่ห์ของมันอยู่นะ แต่หลังจากซื้อ Farsight ที่เป็น Finecast เหมือนโมเดลเก่า Shadowsun มาแล้วก็คิดว่าพอเหอะ ชีวิตนี้จะไม่ซื้อ Finecast ของ GW อีกแล้ว

After I done a bunch of Fire Warrior and Pathfinder. It’s time for a HQ Commander Shadowsun to lead the army. And She is just release not before long so is this pretty much still new model. But will I use her in my finalize army or not, it is another story.

Compare to old Shadowsun. I think I quite like the old aesthetic of old model but after I bought Commander Farsight. I think I will not buy any single Finecast model from GW anymore

Scheme สีที่เลือก นั้นตัดสินใจเลือกทำสีแบบเดียวกับตัวก่อนหน้า แต่เพิ่มส่วนที่เป็นสีขาวลงไปบ้าง (นิดนึง ( -_-)c) และมีดัดแปลงอะไรไปบ้างคือทำฐานใหม่ ที่เอาจริงๆ ใช้เวลาพอๆ กับเพ้นโมเดลใหม่ตัวนึงเลย กับดัดแปลงมือให้ถือปืนพกด้วย

I choose her color scheme as previous work but add a little bit more white (just a little ( -_-)c). And do some modification such as create new base. -which I think it took time as much as painting a main model-. And her left arm is holding a pistol.

หลังจากตัด Shadowsun ออกมาจากฐานเก่า ผมก็เริ่มออกแบบฐานใหม่ ด้วยเศษรันเนอร์ก่อน เป้าหมายก็คือต้องการให้ยืนได้มั่นคง ไม่หักหลุดออกจากฐานง่ายๆ ก็เจาะรูเสียบแกนเหล็กต่อเอาระหว่างเท้ากับฐานอันใหม่ฃ

พอได้ตัวเฟรมหลักของฐานใหม่แล้ว ก็ตัดแผ่นโฟมมาวางๆ เรียงให้คล้ายๆ ซากตึกบางส่วนที่ถล่มลงมา เมื่อได้ตัวตึกคร่าวๆ ก็เริ่มแต่งฐานรอบๆ ด้วยเศษพลาสติกเหลือ กับเท็กเจอร์เพ้นของ GW แล้วลองพ่นรองพื้นออกมาดู

After I cut out Shadowsun from original base. I start to create foundation of new base by using leftover sprue. My goal is to create stable base. That she can stand (pin) without any issue in the long run.

After I satify with the frame. I started cut foam board and arrange them to look like building rubble. Cork board, left over sprue and texture paint were added to make it more realistic look. Finally I prime it to get some overall idea.

ถึงตอนนี้ก็คิดว่าฐานใหม่นั้นดูเรียบไปหน่อย เลยลองเพิ่มเติมเรื่องราวลงไป ก็เอาหัวกับมือของ Rouge Psyker ที่เหลือจาก Blackstone Fortress มาฝังลงไปในดิน ให้เหมือนโดนซากตึกทับ กับแกะเศษรันเนอร์ให้เหมือนเป็นคานเหล็กแล้วปักลงไปเพิ่ม ก็เริ่มมีเรื่องมีราวขึ้นมานะ

At this point. I think the base was a bit plain. So I tried to add a bit more story there. By using leftover Rogue Psyker bit from Blackstone Fortress. Buried him under the rubble. And I craft an I-beam with leftover sprue then piece it on the base. Compare to before, this has a bit more story in there now.

ตัดพลาสติกชีท เป็นสีเหลี่ยมเหล็กๆ แล้วเอามาวางเรียงต่อๆ กันให้เป็นรูปมือหนึ่งด้าน ส่วนนิ้วอีกสองนิ้วที่เหลือ ใช้นิ้วที่แซะออกมาจากโมเดลเดิม มาวางลงไป

I cut plastic sheet into many small square and arrange them to took like a hand. Then I use chisel cut out original finger from the model and place into new hand.

ตัวสีน้ำเงินหลัก ยังใช้วิธีทำแบบเดียวกับคราวก่อน ด้วยการพ่นไล่สีจากเข้มไปอ่อน พอเสร็จสีน้ำเงินหลัก ก็ลงสีเข้มบล็อกสีให้เห็นภาพรวมของตัวโมเดล แล้วก็ค่อยๆ ไล่เก็บรายละเอียดไปเรื่อยๆ

ตอนแรกตราสัญลักษณ์ T’au ที่หน้าอกนั้น เพ้นสีส้มไป แล้วพบว่ามันดึงสายตามากเกินไป เลยเปลี่ยนมาเป็นสีดำแทน

ตัวนี้ ทำ OSL เป็นแสงสีฟ้า/น้ำเงินตกกระทบไปที่ตัวหลักค่อนข้างเยอะ จากปืนกับไอพ่นด้านหลัง ตัวปืนมือขวาทำแสงสว่างเยอะกว่าปืนมือซ้ายหน่อย เพราะจากแอกชั่นแล้ว มือขวาเป็นมือที่กำลังยิงอยู่ข้างเดียว

I use the same primary blue recipe as my Fire Warriors. Start with zenithal highlight with blues and make a small highlight area with lightest blue.

For T’au symbol on her chest, at first I painted it as yellow. But I felt it was too much eye catching compare to the rest. So I repainted it as black instead.

I did a moderate OSL on this one. From her Fusion Blaster and thruster on the back. Her right hand FSB were given more OSL than her left hand as it is in shooting position.

ระหว่างที่เพ้นตัว Shadowsun ก็คิดว่าฐานตึกมุมมุมนึง มันเรียบไปหน่อย เลยจัดการควักมุมตึกตรงนี้ออก แล้วใช้แท่งพลาสติกกับพลาสติกชีท ตัดประกอบทำเป็นของจินตนาการให้คล้ายๆ แท่งแบตเตอร์รี่ พาวเวอร์เซล อะไรสักอย่างแล้วยัดลงไปแทนที่เดิม

ตรงนี้ก็รู้สึกเป็นความสนุกของการทำฐานแบบนึงที่ไม่เหมือนทำตัวโมเดล เพราะฐานแก้ไขง่ายกว่าตัวโมเดลเยอะมาก ตอนที่ตัดสินใจจะแก้ฐานใหม่ จริงๆ ก็คือเพ้นท์สีฐานไปจนเรียกว่าเสร็จไปแล้วก็ว่าได้ แต่ถึงจะควักส่วนนึงของฐานทิ้งไปเลย แล้วลงสีแก้ใหม่ ก็ไม่ได้ยากมาก และยังสวยกว่าเดิมด้วย ถ้าเป็นตัวโมเดลการแก้ไขระดับนี้จะทำสีกลับมาให้สวยเหมือนเดิมก็คงเป็นงานเหนื่อยแน่นอน

While I was painting main model. I feel like one of corner on the building could be more. So I carved out a portion of base and replaced it with hand craft battery like from plastic rod and sheet.

I feel this is one of better fun factor on base building. Because of modifying and repainting base is much easier than the model itself. By the time I decided to modify the base again, it’s like I already finish painting it. But It was not hard to repaint base back to current state, and it is cooler than before too. It would be much harder time if this was done on the model.
