Commander Farsight เป็นโมเดลเรซิ่น Finecast ตัวแรกที่ซื้อมา (และน่าจะเป็นตัวสุดท้าย) ก่อนหน้านี้ก็ได้ยินคำร่ำลือมานานของ Finecast / Failcast แต่ก็ไม่คิดว่าจะเลวร้ายขนาดนี้

Commander Farsight will probably be my first and only GW Finecast resin. As I’ve heard for long time how notorious this line is. Not really believing it too much, until I got one for myself.

ตัวนี้ได้เพนเตอร์ฝรั่งมืออาชีพช่วยวิจารย์งาน ก็ได้ฟี๊ดแบ๊คกลับมาว่า OSL ลงสีหนักไป ทำให้ดูไม่ดีนัก ก็เป็นเรื่องดีที่ได้คำวิจารณ์งานตรงไปตรงมา ที่จะช่วยพัฒนางานต่อๆ ไปให้ดีขึ้นได้

I got a professional feedback for this one. As he said the OSL is too intense and result in chalky look. It is a good thing that I got someone point out for me what I’ve done wrong so I could improve on next project.

ปืนพลาสม่าไรเฟิ้ล เป็นชิ้นติดตายมากับแขน ก็หั่นออกมาจะได้เก็บงานง่ายๆ ตอนแรกก็คิดว่าจะเปลี่ยนไปใช้ตัวพลาสติกที่ดีกว่าดีไหม แต่ก็ตัดสินใจใช้ของเดิมไป เพราะเวลาประกอบเป็นตัวแล้วเป็นชิ้นที่มองไม่เห็นเท่าไหร

บอดี้ Farsight พอเอามาลองวางเทียบกับ XV8 Crisis Suit ก็พบว่าจริงๆ มันสูงเท่ากันเลย แต่ค่อนข้างผอมกว่า และท่าโพสมันหลอกตาให้คิดว่าตัวสูงกว่าพอสมควร

A cut out plasma rifle. It was originally a single piece with left arm. At first I was thinking if I should change it to plastic one. But as this part almost obscure by his shield. So I choose to use original one and do some proper cleaning.

Farsight side by side with normal XV8 Crisis Suit. They are same height (or almost) but Farsight one is a lot slimmer and his pose make it look like he is taller than standard XV8.

ส่วนหัวเป็นส่วนที่ลำบากใจที่สุด มีรอยแม่พิมพ์ผ่ากลางลูกตา และรายละเอียดที่แทบจะโดนกลบหายไปหมด เลยตัดสินใจคว้านออกมาแต่ส่วนหมวก แล้วไปก็อปปี้ส่วนด้านในจาก XV8 เอามาใส่แทน สุดท้ายพอทำสีเสร็จก็รู้สึกคุ้มที่ทำเลย

Head is the most serious damaged one. On the front side mold line got across the eye destroyed all the detail there. And back side inner frame details were lost by casting1. What I done is I cut out only helmet part. Then replace it with duplicated XV8 head inner frame. After done painting, I feel it totally worth the effort.

ส่วนลำตัว หั่นแกนแขน กับหลอดไฟ ทิ้งออกไปเลย แล้วขัดเหลี่ยมคมใหม่หมด แล้วไปก็อปปี้แขนของ XV8 มาใส่แทนแขนเก่า ส่วนหลอดไฟตรงเอวใช้สายไฟ กับ part M.S.G ของ kotobukiya มาใส่แทน

For the torso. I cut out shoulder joint and waist search light. Then sanding all the surface to make sharp edge on body line. Finally replace shoulder joint with XV8 duplicated and replace search light with electric cable and Kotobukiya M.S.G. part.

สีแดง ยังเป็นสีที่ไม่คุ้นมืออยู่ดี กว่าจะเพ้นออกมาได้ ก็มีลองผิดลองถูกสักพัก

I’m still not get used to painting red. I did a few trial before paint the real thing here.
